Typeface was established in Brazil in 2016, drawing on decades of combined experience across ITIL service management, enterprise systems integration, corporate acquisitions, and web platform engineering.

The practice took shape in part through a collaboration with the founders of Materialize, a Brazilian team rethinking what a technical workspace could be. By turning the conventional development environment into a personal, accessible co-working model, they opened up a wide range of capabilities to the people working alongside them. That setting gave Typeface proximity to a broad cross-section of disciplines and client engagements, and it was there that a recurring pattern came into focus.

Across those large organisations, significant capital was being committed to technology initiatives before the underlying assumptions had been properly examined. Vendor proposals were accepted without independent review. Operational teams were handed systems they were not prepared to support. Transitions that should have been stable became prolonged and costly.

Typeface exists to address that gap: we bring structured, experienced judgement to the moments that precede major investment, and to the periods of change where the cost of getting things wrong is highest.
